Praying Ministry

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
— 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

The Praying Ministry helps you grow your prayer life by providing prayer support, as well as teaching, training and equipping members of the congregation to engage intentionally in prayer, contemplatively, meditatively and vocally.

As Christians, we are encouraged to love one another, rejoice in the Lord and pray without ceasing. Prayer is our connection with our Father, to communicate with Him what is going on in our lives and the life of our congregation, and to listen as He leads us by the Holy Spirit. Prayer is an expression of our love for God and for one another. Through prayer, we encourage and nurture a stronger, deeper relationship with God; and, In prayer, we intercede for and support one another.

As believers, we are called to pray for one another and we need all of our members to join together in the prayer life of our congregation. By joining the Praying Ministry Team, and praying for your brothers and sisters in Christ, you have many opportunities to be a blessing and to be blessed. You can choose your involvement based on your availability, level of comfort, and guidance from the Holy Spirit:

  • Prayer Warriors: Pray individually throughout the week for the needs of others; for those on the Prayer Requests List in the Sunday bulletin; for our church leaders; for our congregation, community and worldwide church.

  • First Sundays Prayer Team: Offers prayers of intercession for individuals who come forward after each worship service (the first Sunday of each month), and participate during special prayer and anointing services (such as Lenten Wednesday evening services).

  • Prayer Chain: These dedicated individuals are linked together to receive notice of, and respond quickly to, special need or urgent prayer requests.

  • Prayer Groups: Start, lead or participate in small group prayer, where members come together to pray as the Holy Spirit leads them, or to study and learn more about prayer and praying.

  • Loving Hands Prayer Shawl Ministry: Handmade shawls provide comfort and support to individuals experiencing a special concern in their lives. Shawls are prayed over while being made and blessed before being presented.
